U.S. intelligence also warned that connected thermostats, cameras and January could be used to either spy on citizens of another country or to wreak havoc if they are attacked. The addition of key elements of national critical infrastructure (such as dams, bridges and elements of the power grid) to IoT makes it all the more vital that security is as tight as possible.
